SHINE A LIGHT ON COMMUNITY PHARMACY CARE
The Customer Award was brand new for this year. It placed patients at the heart of the awards process so pharmacies could be celebrated by the people who use them day in, day out. The title went to Balmoral Pharmacy. The judges were inundated with votes from the patients of Balmoral Pharmacy who were all quick to sing the praises of the entire team that work there.
The independent pharmacy has been supporting the South Belfast and Finaghy area for over 50 years. The pharmacy is led by Gerry Watters who has over 25 years of experience in community pharmacy and has been the owner of Balmoral Pharmacy since 2006.
Gerry’s name was mentioned time and time again in each of the nominations, with patients praising his kind and caring manner, professional advice and the fact he knew everyone by name. The wider team were also highly thought of, with many patients claiming that they were treated like an old family friend every time they visited the pharmacy.
Several of the patients who submitted nominations explained that they had been visiting Balmoral Pharmacy for many years because the staff always go above and beyond for patients. And it isn’t just the patients who benefit from the service at Balmoral Pharmacy, many of the votes received spoke about how the team are always quick to help the local community - from helping the older generation who live in the area to donating hampers to local causes.
