COMMUNITY PHARMACY OF THE YEAR
BOOTS SAUCHIEHALL STREET, GLASGOW The pharmacy, services a large diverse community to include over 50 care homes, providing core, national and local NHS services alongside private vaccinations. They demonstrate a commitment to inclusive care through NHS translation services, ensuring tailored support for non-English speaking individuals and nurse led partnerships catering to a variety of patient needs, including asylum seekers. Overcoming language barriers, they provide prompt and appropriate treatment, earning recognition as Scotland's Healthcare Team of the Year internally at Boots.
WALLACETOWN PHARMACY, DUNDEE When the Dundee Drugs and Alcohol Recovery Service (DDARS) was affected by flood, and the formerly co-located GP surgery moved to premises across the city, the pharmacy team supported patients to ensure their care was uninterrupted. They facilitated quick access to opioid replacement therapy, reducing waiting times and subsequently minimizing harm. This collaboration showcased an innovative multidisciplinary approach. At the same time, their stop-smoking service achieved the highest smoking cessation rates locally.
BRIGHTONS PHARMACY, FALKIRK The pharmacy exemplifies community commitment by offering a free 24 hr delivery service for end-of-life medication, blood pressure, and diabetes checks and aiding vaccination efforts. They innovatively rebranded and optimized operations despite challenges, establishing trust post-ownership transition. By embracing sustainability practices, such as introducing reusable packaging for medications, advancing healthcare accessibility and efficiency evidence their commitment to their community.
