Ferry Lane Build to Rent Development
Luceco in its Element at Ferry Lane
Ferry Lane is currently one of the largest ‘Build to Rent’ developments in the UK. The former Ferry Lane Industrial Estate located near Walthamstow is being transformed into an attractive and sensitively designed Build to Rent location. Recognising the demand in the rental sector, Legal & General raised capital from major pension funds for an open-ended build to rent fund. Energy saving and cost effective LED luminaires from Luceco have been specified for this exciting initiative including Element downlighters and circular LuxPanels.
Element is a fire rated luminaire suitable for residential and commercial industry sectors, in particular for applications with small ceiling voids. An increased spring height allows fitting into ceiling thicknesses of up to 40mm. Element is also I-Joist certified in accordance with BS 476-21 for 30 minute I-Joist ceiling applications. Installation is made easy with a Plug and Play connector, specifically designed with a remote driver with a wire-in connector for first and second fix electrical installations, made possible by a loop in / loop out clip and fit terminal.
Variants include standard output or dimmable in either 3000K warm white or 4000K, all with an efficacy of 100Llm/cW. To meet the specification at Ferry Lane by the development partners Galliford Try, Access International Security and DPC, Luceco has produced a 2700K special edition Element downlighter.
Element is available with a selection of interchangeable bezels including flat and bevelled in matt and gloss white, polished chrome, brushed steel, black and black nickel. Offered in 8W at 800Llm, other luminaires in the Element family also include a 7W regressed downlight and adjustable 8W downlight version, all benefitting from Plug and Play connectors for ease of installation. The fittings come as IP65 as standard, so the contractor was able to purchase one downlight for all areas of the property, reducing the variants on the site.
With over 450 new homes planned, the Ferry Lane development overlooks the stunning Walthamstow Wetlands and is located 200m from Blackhorse Road Station in Walthamstow. As well as a mix of homes ranging from studio flats to 3-bedroom homes there will also be commercial accommodation, leisure facilities and an a newly planted woodland.
