Receiving the award, Sophie expressed deep gratitude:
“I feel very privileged to receive this award and even more honoured knowing this award is in memory of Nicola and Fiona. None of this work would be possible without the support of Sussex Police and
the Police Federation, and every member of staff and officer who has contributed to the sexism mentor scheme and the work we are driving. We have come a long way but there’s still work to be done, and I am absolutely committed to continuing that journey.” Inspector Sophie King embodies the best of policing leadership, compassionate, empowering and unafraid to drive meaningful change. Her sustained contribution has made a profound difference to women in policing and the wider Sussex Police community. Congratulations to Inspector Sophie King on this well-deserved recognition, and its thanks for her ongoing work to promote fairness, inclusion and opportunity for all.
