work, and now it’s the final push before we embark on this exciting trip.” Summarising his experience, Tim

said: “The trip to the Alps was a huge adventure, offering Rich, myself and the other team members an opportunity to climb mountains we have previously only dreamt of scaling. After attending our core programmes, we were both blown away by the work that Climbing Out do to support people, that I have worked tirelessly to become involved in any way I can. “Rich and I are now ambassadors for the charity working in the local community as well as closely with West Mercia Police to ensure officers are aware of the charity and what they offer. “We are extremely excited about the trip, which offered us a good insight into ourselves on a deeper level whilst also allowing us to learn skills we can use in the future.” Rich added: “We are aware that those of us in the police can experience trauma on a regular basis as a result of the type of work we are involved in. The impact of this trauma, whether direct or indirect, can mean that officers can encounter difficulties with their mental health. “Both Tim and I would encourage

anyone who is struggling with their mental health, as a result of trauma they have experienced, to reach out to Climbing Out as they have helped us both more than we can say. Likewise, we

are both available to discuss Climbing Out with colleagues in our role as ambassadors for the charity.” Tim raised funds for the charity trip by running the entire Welsh 3 peaks on foot scaling almost 20,000 feet whilst covering more than 130 miles with only an hour of sleep along the way. Raising both awareness and money along the way, during this adventure he raised £1,615 for the charity. His fundraising page remains active should you wish to donate please head to https://www.justgiving.com/page/tim- viner-1689666901516 Rich has recently published a book of poetry “Darkness & Light” which documents his own journey from trauma, through the difficulties of mental health and on towards recovery. The book is dedicated to Climbing Out and all profits will go straight back to the charity to help support others. The book is available on Amazon here: https://amzn. eu/d/0hs5O96c Kelda added: “Thank you to Team

Forces and Microsoft for funding four places for military people, and to the National Police Healthcare Scheme, Northumbria Police Federation and all the people who have sponsored and supported the expedition, we are eternally grateful for the opportunities you have given this group of people on their journey to recovery from trauma.”

Kelda Wood founded Climbing Out in 2010. Eight years earlier a freak accident left Kelda with an irreparable leg injury that had a huge impact on her life and ended her dreams of becoming an Olympic horse rider. After rebuilding her confidence,

Kelda changed her focus and eventually retrained as an outdoor instructor. In 2010, she launched Climbing Out to help people who have been through life-changing injury, illness or trauma.

Climbing Out offers fully funded

places on five-day outdoor activity programmes, that use mental resilience training to empower people to take control of their mindset, actions and behaviour.
