1951

The class expresses sympathy to Sara Claire Little Davis on the passing of her husband. Sara has moved to Still Hopes retirement community in West Columbia, South Carolina, where she is very happy. She is enjoying great activities, good food and a welcoming community. She welcomes visitors!

1958 The art and act of downsizing was the great challenge of 2020 as Libby Davis and Walt Davis moved from their home of 40 years in San Anselmo, California, to an apartment at Friends House Retirement Community in Sandy Spring, Maryland. After 63 years of marriage that began as a Davidson-Queens courtship, they continue their joyful life journey in this Quaker community near children and grandchildren, with vibrant new friends.

1964

This was a year of change for Larry and Fi Umberger in Columbia, South Carolina. In July, they lost both Fi’s brother and his wife to strokes. Dealing with their estate has involved many trips to the farm in Virginia. They have appreciated the encouragement of family and friends. These were precious gifts. Another special Christmas gift was sharing lunch with roommate, Joan Calhoun Steven ’64, in West Virginia.

1968 Anne-Lynn Stahl Teal and husband Steve live in West Chester, Ohio, and continue to enjoy riding their Honda Goldwing motorcycle. Anne-Lynn visits San Diego as often as possible to visit her three children and three grandchildren, River (8), Sage (7) and their little brother Jasper (2).

Celebrating 75th birthdays and 53 years of post-graduation friendship, eight classmates from the class of ’68 gathered at Pawleys Island to have fun and reminisce about their Queens years. Chris Sprenkle Jones, Mary Jane Brown Reynolds, Sidney Walker Pease, Mary Maroney Walker, Bonnie North Flood, Lura Deaton McMurray, Nancy Dashiell Fanning and Janie Hamilton Radcliffe. So many great stories somehow get embellished every year, but the retelling is part of the fun.

1969 Carol Callaway Veliotis’s collage won the People’s Choice award at her hometown gallery. She collected photos for two years. Every possible kind of love there is. Rhett Thurman and Miss Betty are in there, hugging. “Love conquers all.”

1970 Lynn Bradley Evans shows off her Royals pride by the Great Sippiwissett Marsh on the Shining Sea bike path in Falmouth, Massachusetts.

1971 Nancy Lindley Cornwell and her husband Larry have moved to their mountain home in Boone, North Carolina. After completing their home 18 years ago, it was time to leave Georgia after retiring and enjoy the beauty of the mountains. Nancy has become quite interested in fly fishing, hiking and taking some adult education classes at Appalachian State University. Boone truly has four distinct seasons to explore.
