2019 Ally Bush recently moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to begin a service year with AmeriCorps. She is serving as the marketing and communications coordinator for Reading Partners, a nonprofit that


helps children become lifelong learners by providing individualized reading instruction with measurable results.


Julia Forbes-Mayes married Ben Mayes ’18 on July 6, 2019, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Attendants included current Queens students Bella Perron ’20 and Megan Delgado ’20, and alumni Ian Shackley ’18 and John Evans. Te reception venue at Bay 7 at Te American Tobacco Campus in Durham was filled with many Queens alumni, as well as several coaches who came to celebrate the special day!

Tis past year has been a very special one for Phillip McCarter MBA ’02, a Blumenthal Fellow. He was promoted from vice president to chief operating officer at Nation Ford Chemical in Fort Mill, South Carolina, where he has been employed for more than 20 years. McCarter started as a process engineer for the company in 1999. Since that time, he has helped the company grow from a small manufacturing company to one of the leading toll producers of specialty products in the nation. During this same period of time, McCarter has been giving back to the local community by coaching youth soccer at almost all levels and ages. Tis past year he was named as the first men’s soccer coach at Catawba Ridge High School, where he will start the soccer program. Tis is Fort Mill’s newest school and home of the Copperheads! Phillip is married to Celia McCarter, and they have five children (Kyle, Noah, Ayden, Lydia and Quentin).
