AURIGA LAUNCH ONLINE DATA DISPATCH
FOR SUB-50 CAR FLEETS
Auriga Systems has launched Evocab Online: a fully featured Internet-based data dis- patch system ideally suited to the require- ments and budgets of fleets with 50 cars or less.
With Evocab Online, staff at the taxi or pri- vate hire company use PCs to access a remote Evocab server via a secure broadband Internet connection. By removing expensive server hardware from the equation, Evocab Online dramatically reduces start-up costs, making a high-end sys- tem available at a price that is affordable for fleets of all sizes. The system’s core functionality is the same as in Auriga’s

flagship Evocab Enter- prise system, which runs many of the UK’s largest taxi and private hire companies.
Drivers communicate with the system using GPRS-based PDAs, and customers are free to source their own hardware and data agreements in order to reduce costs.
The system offers huge flexibility because it doesn’t rely on a
defined, physical office; it is available wherever there is an Internet con- nection: in the office, at home, or even on a beach in the Caribbean via a wireless card.

100TH MERCEDES VITO TAXI FOR COMCAB
London’s largest radio circuit, Computer Cab plc, recently wel- comed the 100th Mercedes Vito Taxi onto its fleet. The cab is no normal addition to the fleet, it is a spe- cial loan vehicle provided by Chief Rentals for any Com- cab driver involved in a non-fault accident. In the event of a Com- cab driver having a non-fault accident, Chief Rentals will han- dle the claim, have the driver’s damaged taxi delivered to London Mercedes Dealer KPM and provide the spe- cial loan taxi – already fitted with the Comcab Advantage system. Taking delivery of the Vito from Gavin Coop- er of Chief Rentals, Malcolm Paice, Gener- al Manager for Computer Cab plc commented: “Having such a large fleet of Vito taxis really helps our offering to our cus- tomers and now this deal with Chief Rentals gives our drivers a great benefit as well. The special Vito, already fitted with our

Advantage system, can be used by any of our drivers in the event of our cab being off the road as a result of a non-fault accident.” As part of the celebra- tions to welcome the 100th Vito taxi Comput- er Cab plc also offered its drivers a special deal on purchases of new Vito taxis. Com- cab drivers who ordered a new Vito taxi from KPM before the end of August have been given a full leather upholstery upgrade for the pas- senger compartment at no extra cost, cour- tesy of Comcab. Malcolm added: “We want to encourage our drivers to invest in newer, cleaner taxis. This initiative is not
designed to show any particular favouritism towards any model of taxi and we continue to offer our full support to the LTI product as well as the Vito. Our customers are keen to see more modern taxis with features such as leather interior and full air conditioning as standard, so anything that encourages our fleet to upgrade to a better specification taxi gets our support. We came up with this deal to mark our 100th Vito, but we are already close to wel- coming our 120th Vito to our fleet!”
