MAD MOMENTS!! EASTBOURNE CABBIE MOVES AMBULANCE
A taxi driver has been arrested for driving an ambulance away from the scene of an ill baby. Police arrested the cab- bie after he allegedly moved the ambulance, which was blocking the street while preparing to take a five-week-old baby to hospital. Paramedics called police after the inci- dent. They reported the taxi driver had become frustrated that the ambulance had temporarily blocked the road.
The cabbie is said to have got in to the vehi- cle and then driven it a short distance up the street before returning to his taxi and leaving the scene.
The ambulance crews had been called out to
the baby girl who was suffering from breath- ing problems and was being treated as an emergency.
The paramedics had to retrieve the ambu- lance before taking the baby to hospital where she remained overnight but was then discharged. James Pavey, senior operations manager for South East Coast Ambulance Service, told the Rye and Bat- tle Observer: “Until an assessment of a patient is carried out, we need to treat all emergencies with the same level of urgency. It is vital ambulance staff have easy access to their vehicle as well as access to necessary equipment and drugs.
“We recognise that it can be frustrating when an ambulance is forced to block a road. But we would ask the public to remember this is only being done to ensure we get to those who need our help quickly.” A Sussex Police spokesperson added, “The 64-year-old came to the police station of his own accord a short while later and was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent and obstructing an emer- gency worker contrary to the Emergency Workers (Obstruction) Act 2006.
“He was bailed with- out charge until August 31 pending fur- ther enquiries.”

SATNAV TELLS NORFOLK CABBIE TO PLUNGE INTO RIVER
A taxi driver drove into a river under direc- tions from his satnav, leaving him stranded in the River Nar. The minibus driver was directed into the river in Norfolk, and apparently put his trust in the satnav to the extent that he drove directly into the river and kept going for 200 yards.
According to Motor Torque magazine, the Volkswagen Caravelle finally became stuck in the riverbed. The minibus was eventu- ally rescued by a tractor.
A spokeswoman for the firm said: “When it told him to carry straight on, he did, even though it was taking him along the
river.”
Mmm... we’ve had mis- guided ambulances, drivers who’ve caused royalty to miss a major football match, vehi- cles getting stuck down a one-way dead end street. And now a driver even follows the satnav directions into a river and carries on for 200 yards! Amaz- ing... - Ed
