Here’s Mohammed Fayaz, pictured with Paul Wilson of Patons Taxiworld, proudly dis- playing the first all-new Compact Mercedes Vito Taxi in Glasgow. Mohammed, who is affectionately known to his friends as ‘Frank’ has been working on the taxis in Glasgow for many years and in fact he has a couple of plates in Scotland’s major city.
“I’ve always had the traditional cabs in the past, but when I heard the Mercedes was coming to town then I knew this was going to be the one for me”. Says Mohammed proudly, “There’s no doubt that a Glasgow cab driver recognises good quality when he

£1000 MYSTERY TIP FOR HULL CABBIE
It was eleven o’clock in the morning and the room was eerily dark. I was standing 10 metres underwater, staring a shark right between the eyes. They call this place The Deep and I could see why. It’s an underworld of weird, wonderful and downright surreal sea creatures. But I hadn’t come back to Hull for the marine life. I’d returned to make another cabbie £1000 richer. So as my shark swam away into gloomy depths of the aquarium, I decided to move on.
I headed for the Muse- um Quarter at double-quick speed, hoping to catch a glimpse of my elusive sticker. I followed a trail from the Hull and East Riding Museum to Wilberforce House then onto Streetlife. As I approached the Arctic Corsair I thought I saw someone with my stick-
Graham Pashley. Needless to say he was delighted with his £1000 Mystery Tip. “It’s brilliant! Things like this never happen to me, the wife will be pleased!”
er, so I quickened my pace.
Suddenly, I had a flash of inspiration: maybe he was heading for the train station. I hot-foot- ed it all the way from the spectacular Hum- ber Bridge, right into the city centre. As I turned the corner onto the station concourse I saw it. The famous tril- by, the blonde curls, the fistful of
cash...my sticker!
The owner was a lovely cabbie by the name of

sees it, and this new Mercedes is amongst the best!” I’ve had quite a few cabs in my time. For my money this is a terrific taxi. This Merc will deliver a level of quality that any driver will really appreciate: there’s more driver legroom, more extras as stan- dard and a far better ride than any of the taxis I had owned before. Air condition- ing, front and rear – fantastic! The running costs are going to be low too, you get 150,000 miles or 3 years warranty, 20,000 mile service intervals and I’m enjoying a deal with 3 years/100,000 miles free servicing – so you can’t get lower than
that! Also, this Mer- cedes Vito Taxi is unique because it is fully backed by Mer- cedes-Benz, which means that I can get any servicing and war- ranty work done at any Mercedes Benz Commercial dealer- ship in the UK. I also get excellent support from Patons and I’ve always found them 100 per cent to deal with because they’re taxi specialists – espe- cially Young Paul! Times are tough at the moment and we all have to be careful what we spend our money on, it’s a lot harder to earn from working your cab on the streets. But there is good business around. Corporate clients are still going to
conferences, needing picked up from airports and stations. And the taxi is still the best way to get business cus- tomers from A to B. Says Mohammed “My new Mercedes Vito Taxi has already caught the attention of many corporate cus- tomers, they all want my business card just so they can book me again.” Can’t be bad if you own a new Merc, eh?
