TWO YEARS FOR ASSAULT ON DUNFERMLINE DRIVER
A former soldier who assaulted a cabbie was jailed for two years at Dunfermline Sheriff Court last month. Craig Miller, 24, left Joseph Wilson with a bloody nose and bruis- ing. Miller was out on
licence from prison at the time.
The attack happened as Mr Wilson dropped the accused off at a social club in Dun- fermline. Miller realised he did not have the fare and tried
to avoid paying. The Courier and Adver- tiser reports that Miller admitted assault- ing Mr Wilson by repeatedly punching the 64-year-old on the head and attempting to kick him.
13 YEARS FOR LONDON GUNPOINT ROBBERY
A student who beat up a minicab driver and dragged him from his vehicle at gunpoint before driving away in it has been jailed. According to the Bromley News Shop- per, David Sieni, 23, from Roehampton, was sentenced to 13
years in prison after he was found guilty of robbery and posses- sion of an imitation firearm with intent fol- lowing a six-day trial at Croydon Crown Court. The court heard that in last December Sieni requested a minicab to take him to Crystal
Palace. When the car arrived Siemi was waiting with another man and threatened the driver with a gun. Sieni punched him several times and took cash and a mobile phone before fleeing in the minicab with his accomplice.
MAN WHO ADMITS ASSAULT ON SWINDON DRIVER AWAITS JAIL
A man who admitted assaulting a 59-year- old cabbie will still face a trial over what exactly happened.
According to the Swin- don Advertiser, Grant Wyatt, 21, claims cab- bie Rawinder Sahota had thrown him out of the taxi and fought with him before the assault took place.
The prosecutor told Swindon Crown Court that his version of events was wrong and would make a differ- ence to the sentence. She said there was a dispute over money and Mr Sahota was punched to the face and struck on the head. The driver fell to the ground where Wyatt rained
more punches on him before kicking him. Wyatt pleaded guilty to a charge of actual bodily harm.
Judge Douglas Field adjourned the hearing for a trial of issue but told Wyatt that whatev- er the outcome of the hearing he will face jail and remanded him in custody.
12 YEARS IN TOTAL FOR ROBBERS WHO STABBED DERBY CABBIE
Two robbers who stabbed a cabbie in his hand have been jailed for a total of 12 years. John Fox, 28, and Shaun Dean, 23, demanded Mohammed Hanif hand over his earnings while bran- dishing a 12-inch knife. After Dean ran off with £70, Fox stayed behind and tried to stab Mr Hanif, slicing his finger
as the taxi driver tried to protect himself. Officers tracked the pair down through blood found in a car that Dean stole to take the injured Fox to hos- pital. Fox’s blood was also found inside the taxi and in the Mick- leover street where the robbery took place. According to the Derby Telegraph,
Derby Crown Court heard that Mr Hanif, 27, had suffered severe psychological trauma and a deep wound to his index finger. Fox, from Mackworth, was jailed for eight years after he admitted robbery and posses- sion of a weapon. Dean, from Derby, who admitted robbery, was jailed for four years.

COMMUNITY ORDER FOR TEEN WHO ATTACKED STOKE DRIVER
A teenager who con- sumed a cocktail of drink and drugs attacked a taxi driver because he could not pay his fare.
Leon Jennings, 19, from Stoke, ordered a taxi but was unable to pay the fare.
The Prosecutor told
Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court that the dispute developed into a phys- ical struggle. The driver was left with a cut to his ear and fin- ger and soreness to his head. The Sentinel reports that Jennings was arrested the next day. The court heard
he had little recollec- tion because he had taken alcohol and methadrone.
He pleaded guilty to affray and was sen- tenced to a 12-month community order, with 12 months’ supervi- sion and 150 hours’ unpaid work.
CARDIFF TAXI ROBBER FINALLY JAILED FOR 28 MONTHS
A robber who targeted a taxi driver in Cardiff three years ago has been jailed. The South Wales Echo reports that Cardiff Crown Court heard how William O’Driscoll, 25, left the area after pleading guilty to the offence in July 2007.
He was eventually arrested when he was stopped for an alleged motoring offence in Carmarthen this sum- mer. When he was taken back before a Cardiff judge, he was given a 28- month sen- tence.

the judge said: “You were drunk when you got into a taxi being driven by a 61-year- old driver. When he asked for the fare, you took his ignition keys and threatened him. “As a taxi driver he was very much at risk from people like you.”
20 MONTHS FOR THUG WHO SAVAGELY ATTACKED SWANSEA CABBIE
A Swansea cabbie has been left feeling physi- cally sick when he goes to work after he was subjected to a savage attack.
Anthony Thomas John, 26, was jailed at Swansea Crown Court for 20 months after pleading guilty to wounding the cabbie
last December.
According to the South Wales Evening Post, the Prosecutor said that on Decem- ber 13 the defendant and his girlfriend got into the car of Yellow Cabs driver Christo- pher White, and soon after John - who was drunk - began com-
plaining about the fare.
When Mr White stopped, John lost his temper and repeatedly punched him. The cabbie suffered multi- ple lacerations to his ear, nose and scalp. When arrested, John claimed to have been acting in self-defence.
HARTLEPOOL THUG GETS 40 MONTHS FOR TAXI KNIFE ROBBERY BID
A thug who swiped at a terrified taxi driver with a knife has been jailed for 40 months at Teesside Crown Court. According to the Hartlepool Mail, Aaron Donley, 20, lunged at the driver with an eight- inch long knife through the cab’s window after approaching the taxi in Hartlepool. He repeat-
edly jabbed the knife at him shouting “give me your money”.
The cabbie managed to call police who launched a search. Donley was eventually found by the police helicopter. Police then used a Taser stun gun to detain him. Donley, from Hartle- pool, at first denied any
involvement and was picked out by the taxi driver in an ID parade. He later pleaded guilty to attempted robbery and possessing an offensive weapon. The Judge told Don- ley: “If you commit another offence of this nature it is likely you will get an indefinite sentence.”
