MILTON KEYNES DRIVER RESCUES FAMILY HOLIDAY
into the purse he found a large amount of money in large notes – some £1,900 – plus two credit cards with their PIN numbers. So he phoned his passenger and told her he’d found the purse. She was overjoyed obviously, as she was on holiday with her children.
Nowadays, with all the doom and gloom around, it is heartening to read about true heroes who go about their business, and do the right thing without having to think twice about it. Such an indi- vidual is Milton Keynes driver Mohammed Mushtaq, who last month saved the sani- ty (and holiday) of a lady called Alison who was on holiday from
Nigeria. She was taken to John Lewis in Milton Keynes by Mr Mush- taq, who then took two other passengers on their journeys before going home.
Mr Mushtaq then received a call from his base at Eezy Cabs, ask- ing him if he’d found a purse in his vehicle. He went out to the car and sure enough, a ladies’ purse had fallen onto the seat. Upon looking
Mr Mushtaq drove to where Alison was stay- ing and returned the purse, whereupon he was given a £50 note as a reward – plus the £6 fare the base had charged for the delivery of the purse. Mr Mush- taq told us: “My wife and children were so proud of me because I did the right thing. It would not occur to me to do any other; it was not my money.”
OTLEY TAXI COMPANY COME TO THE RESCUE
The “remarkable hon- esty” of an Otley taxi firm has been praised by a grateful resident. Retired businessman Anthony Arnold feared he had lost his wallet and its contents for good when he realised he had misplaced it on last month.
But on retracing his steps, he decided to give Otley Private Hire - who had earlier driv- en him to his home in Meagill Rise - a ring. The Wesley Street company not only searched for and found Mr Arnold’s wal- let, but they then sent a car out to deliver it to his home.
Mr Arnold, 57, told the Wharfedale and Airedale Observer: “This was a remarkable

piece of honesty and I really want to thank the company and let peo- ple know how well they looked after me.
“I couldn’t find my wal- let anywhere and I had no idea where I had left it, so, as a last resort, I phoned the company, whom I’d got a taxi from earlier on Sunday.

“They not only found it in the back of a car but they delivered it right to my house, free of charge, which I think is incredible.
“And my wallet had exactly the same amount of money that had been left in it. It was an absolutely fan- tastic example of customer service.”
