...TIMES FOUR ARRESTS OVER BLACKBURN ATTACKS
A gang of yobs attacked three taxi drivers and a car owner in Blackburn on Saturday 9 October. Police said the youths struck between mid- night and 1.30am in Peridot Close and Dou- glas Place, Brownhill. Detective Sergeant Adrian McHugh said the group waved down the cabs before punching and kicking the drivers and their
vehicles, smashing windows and stealing cash takings.
He said: “They have assaulted the drivers, damaged the vehicles and stolen property. They have caused havoc around there. “The drivers have received cuts and bruises about the head and body. To have four vehicles all targeted like that is extremely unusual.”
Six youths have been arrested following the attacks. They have all been released on bail pending further in- quiries.
DS McHugh said: “I think it’s a rowdy group of drunk youths who have gone on a spree and sadly these gentlemen have been the victims.”

A taxi driver blacked out after two cus- tomers beat, cut and robbed him.
As reported in the Brighton Argus, police have released images of the two men they want to speak to in con- nection with the assault, which took place on a remote country road near Hailsham.
The driver picked up three men in East- bourne and dropped one off in Litlington, near Alfriston.
The remaining two asked him to stop as he travelled along the B2104 Ersham Road,

The men then attacked him, using a weapon to cut the top of his left arm. They hit him over the head, knocking him out, and stole his wallet containing sev- eral hundred pounds and ran off.
The first suspect, who travelled in the front of the vehicle, is de- scribed as mixed race, aged 25 to 35 with neck-length braided hair. He was wearing a “New York” zip-up hooded jacket. He talked about Jamaica during the journey. The second man was
LEICESTER DRIVER ABUSED IN ATTACK
A Leicester driver was abused in an apparent- ly racially motivated attack. Police said a man approached the driver outside a club in King Street and insulted him before damaging his ‘for hire’ light.
The man then got into
another taxi with two women which took them to the Aikman Avenue area of New Parks. Police said it happened at about 4.50am on Sat- urday, September 25. Both the suspect and victim were Asian. According to the Leicester Mercury, the
suspect was aged between 22 and 24, about 5ft 8ins tall, with stubble. He was slim and wore a black jack- et.

The man who was dropped off in Litling- ton was white, 25 to 35 and dark-haired. He was wearing a grey Lonsdale sports jacket. DUNDEE DRIVER STONE-THROWING ALERT
A Dundee taxi owner has warned that stone- throwing youths could cause a serious traffic accident. Colin Westwood, 58, had his silver Renault Scenic targeted about 8pm on October 5 while parked at the taxi rank in Camper- down Road. Only one stone hit the vehicle but he said such inci- dents were becoming “a regular occurrence” in the area and he was worried it could cause a motorist to lose con- trol and crash. Four youths threw stones at two stationary taxis; it is thought they
had been targeting passing vehicles too. Mr Westwood’s vehi- cle appears to have been the only car hit. He said throwing stones or eggs, espe- cially at taxis, was a problem in the Camperdown Road/ Macalpine Road area and in Balgowan Avenue.
He told the Dundee Courier and Advertis- er: “The car was stationary but it could have been going up the road with a fare. “You can get a real fright if something hits you; it could cause an accident. It was fortu-

nate it’s not a serious dent but any repair now is expensive.” His driver had report- ed the attack to the police but the youths had disappeared. Police have issued descriptions of the youths. All are around 12 to 14. Two of the youths have fair hair and were wearing blue hooded tops and the other two have short wavy hair and were wearing grey and black jack- ets.

A Swadlincote taxi driver was left with a cut to his eye after he was punched by rob- bers who stole his takings and then attempted to hijack his cab.
The 40-year-old taxi driver managed to lock himself in his cab and drive off when the men tried dragging him out of the door.
The driver had picked up three men in Woodville and taken them to Chestnut Avenue in Midway, where the attack hap- pened at 5.50am, on Saturday 9 October. The Burton Mail reports that Derbyshire police have arrested three men, two aged 21 and one aged 22, after the vicious attack.

CRAWLEY FUNERAL ENDS IN ARRESTS
Mourners leaving the funeral of a tragic teen were arrested for attacking a taxi driver, stealing his cab and crashing it into a tree. Friends and family gathered to remember 19-year-old Callum Muggeridge, from Broadfield, who died after his motorbike hit a tree last month. But police were called in the early hours of a recent Tuesday after a driver from Crawley
firm United Cars was assaulted.
A police spokesman told the Crawley News: “Five men were quickly arrested by police after a taxi driv- er was assaulted and his vehicle was stolen then crashed into a nearby tree.
“The taxi driver picked up five men in Broad- field shortly after midnight on Tuesday morning.” A 20-year-old man from
Crawley Down was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, taking a car and robbery. A 32-year-old man from Crawley was arrested on suspicion of robbery and taking a car.
An 18-year-old man from Crawley, a 30- year-old man from Poole, Dorset, and a 17-year-old boy from Crawley were all arrested on suspicion of robbery.
BASILDON CABBIE ROBBED OF TAKINGS
A taxi driver has been left traumatised after being assaulted and robbed of £100. The 53-year-old had collected two men and a woman when his seat belt was pulled tight across his throat. As he stopped the car and managed to get out, one of the men pinned him against the door and punched him, before demand-
ing he hand over his money. The second man kicked the car and broke a wing mirror. All three passengers ran off with the money - the driver’s takings for 17 hours’ work. The father of four said: “I just feel really trau- matised. I keep think- ing about it. If I give up, I will be giving up a means of making a livelihood for my fami-
ly. I am also worried about my health.” He has stopped work- ing nights.
Colleagues collected £170 to replace the stolen money.
