GlasGO Cabs has also launched an app so customers can eas- ily book its service and even link their credit card so payment is stress-free. Hampden Cars general manager Martin

a stronger service for its staff and cus- tomers. Glasgow Private Hire manager Stuart Brennan agrees. He said: “I’ve been involved in the taxi industry for a long time and it’s good to see this progres- sion. The feedback so far from both companies is optimistic and GlasGO Cabs is going to build a very large and invincible fleet.”

Hogg explained: “In a nutshell, cus- tomers will now get an improved service because we have a bigger fleet.” The pandemic made the owners see the potential of working together to create

GlasGO Cabs is also looking ahead to phase two of Glasgow’s Low Emission Zone in 2023. The company plans to go electric and create an eco-friendly fleet which will be rolled out over the next few years.

TAKE ME GROUP TAKES OVER AFTER A VERY BUSY MAY PERIOD

Ambitious taxi operator Take Me has has a busy May, bringing in four taxi groups uner its brand. Its started at the beginning of the month when fast-growing taxi group Take Me Group made an acquisition, adding Stoke-on-Trent-based Intercity Taxis to the roster in a deal worth between £3 million and £4m. Intercity Taxis was founded more than 50 years ago and operates a fleet of around 120 taxis. The deal was backed by MBH Corporation plc, a diversified invest- ment holding company. A week later Crewe’s Westend Taxis was bought for an undisclosed sum, by Directors David Hunter and John Gard- ner, in a deal outside of MBH. The 150- strong fleet, which uses iCabbi, is the start of the group’s entry into the North West. David said: “We are strong in the Midlands, but this is our first site in the North West, with more to follow throughout the year.” Camberley’s Hart Cars was aqquired by Gary Marshall (Take Me COO), David Hunter and John Gardner, to be bolted

onto VGT Cars in Farnborough. The month ended off with Heritage Cars in Birmingham, merging with Take Me’s TC Cars, also in Birmingham, to form a large Birmingham super fleet. The Directors of Heritage, remain in the group and will be adding another large fleet to the Birmingham fleet in July. David Hunter said: “This year our first phase is to acquire fleets or offer fran- chise deals, we’re not venture capitalists, we are taxi men building a network, and welcome owners to stay with us. “We’re lucky enough to have the

backing of MBH and or a private fund, so there are many ways we can do a deal; bonds, shares, cash etc. We have a full array of tools at our disposal, the main objective is to work together. Phase 2 will be rebranding and putting in the streamlined technology to all sites.” Take Me continues to build a national British network for operators, with a further three operators to migrate across to Take Me in June.
