YOUR COMPANY’S FUTURE

Introducing Taxi Guru Ateeq Naseem Marketing Manager Albatross Cars, Derby

“ ALBATROSS HEROES CAMPAIGN

Amongst the most personally satisfying campaigns in which Albatross was involved last year was the project to promote unsung heroes within the trade.

Look after your staff, they’ll look after your customers and the business will take care of itself.

” Richard Branson

With the New Year upon us, I’d like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and the best of luck with 2023.

After the busy Christmas period, January is an important month; it is the time for all taxi businesses to reflect on the past year and to make plans for the year ahead

With over three decade’s worth of experience within the private hire industry my goal in writing this regular feature is to provide fellow members of our trade with valuable insights into the taxi industry and do my best to impart some wisdom that will help your company to grow.

KEEPING AND RECRUITING DRIVERS

Nowadays self-employed taxi drivers have more options than ever and they can move companies within minutes, making it increasingly difficult to attract and hold drivers.

Therefore, in order to entice new drivers and keep existing ones, it’s imperative that taxi firms be proactive in rewarding, communicating and providing benefits for their drivers that will lead to them genuinely wanting to drive with your company.

My company, Albatross Cars, believes strongly in this ethos. We appreciate our drivers and provide a variety of benefits for them. I therefore wanted to share some examples of the activities and initiatives that we’ve undertaken in 2022 that I hope can serve as inspiration for other taxi companies to consider.

All taxi firms should undertake similar campaigns to give a ‘pat on the back’ for outstanding acts as it shows your drivers that you care about them as well as challenging false narratives about our trade.

This was a deeply personal campaign as we are acutely aware of the sacrifices that many of our taxi drivers make to work in this profession and have strongly opposed the false media narrative against taxi drivers in general.

Having worked in the taxi trade for decades, I know that most taxi drivers are amongst the most honest, sincere, and hard-working people in this country and we wanted to shed a more favourable light on cabbies to reflect this reality.

We promoted some extraordinary acts that our drivers had done to show the real face of our industry. Check out the hashtag #AlbatrossHeroes online to see more about this wonderful campaign. The recognition that we received was incredible and included being interviewed by the BBC as well as numerous other national and local outlets.

The campaign was designed to show our drivers that Albatross Cars not only appreciates them but also cares sincerely about them and that we are serious about changing peoples’ perceptions.

Also, one of our drivers, Niyyah, won the Silver Award for ‘Professional Driver of the Year’ from QSI, one of the leading taxi industry organisations.
