Yes, they are not typos, some horses are running in the same race.

Readers of this column will know how much I look forward to March and my annual pilgrimage to Cheltenham, and even though there will be last minute tips next month for the handicaps etc, this is now the time to put your money down for the main races, where fields have largely been finalised. Most bookies are now offering NRNB (if you don’t know the acronym, shame on you!) BUT this year I have decided to put my fancies down in the following manner: CANT BE OPPOSED (CBO) NAPS OUTRUN THEIR ODDS

CBO

In the first list we put down horses you may want to back, but critically ones you should not oppose in the hope of the favourite falling, or bleeding, or hoping they won’t run to form. Just watch the race and enjoy or if you have to, put the lot in an Acc (but it still won’t make you rich!!) LOSSIEMOUTH

AND SO TO OTHER SPORTS Away from racing, what else starts again? Incredibly testing in Formula 1!! This year my tip (with or without Max) is LANDO NORRIS at 14/1 with, and a very generous 5/1 without Max in the field. The word in the pitlanes is McLaren will challenge. But before all that, it’s the start of the 6 Nations and FRANCE are a nap at 5/4 in effectively a two-horse race. At the start of the sporting/betting year, I try and identify the sports stars I want to ‘keep on my side’. This all started about ten years ago in this column when I kept tipping winners of events, at big prices, the year before they actually won them!! Annoying or what!! It gradually dawned on me to follow them blind. Now those in the following list don’t play every week, sometimes they play against each other BUT…AND I MEAN BUT TO EMPHASISE THE POINT, if you follow them YOU WILL MAKE A PROFIT OVER THE YEAR. And to labour the point, each month from now on there will be a little table with a PLUS and a MINUS graph showing their progress. Each will be in 10 unit increments at best starting price from major UK Bookmakers in major sporting events. Search for them when you have a bet.

HERE ARE MY 10 TO KEEP ON MY SIDE:

13/8 4/1

16/1 20/1 12/1

NICOLAI HOJGAARD MAX HOMA LUDVIG ABERG VIKTOR HOVLAND JON RAHM LUKE LITTLER ALI CARTER HOLGER RUNE BEN SHELTON GREEN BAY PACKERS

Until next time, good punting…
