BRUTALLY ATTACKED AT TAXI RANK


Police are investigating a brutal attack on a taxi driver in Gloucester. The incident happened at around 11.35pm on December 16 in the Station Road area of the city.


Gloucestershire Police said the cabbie, a man in his 50s, was punched in the face while at a taxi rank on the road. He suffered facial injuries and was taken to hospital.


The force said a man in his 40s from Gloucester has been arrested on suspicion of assault. He has been released on bail while the investigation continues.


MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH CABBIE ASSAULT IN DORCHESTER


A man has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault on a taxi driver. The driver, a man in his 40s, suffered minor facial injuries and was taken to hospital according to police.


It is alleged that he was attacked by a man he had picked up from an address in Cambridge Road, Dorchester at 6.30pm on Christ- mas Day. The attacker fled in the direction of the town centre.


Following enquiries, a 21-year-old man from Weymouth has been arrested in connection with the incident. He has been released on police bail as the investigation continues.


TAXI DRIVER PUNCHED AND RACIALLY ABUSED OUTSIDE BUSY WARRINGTON TRAIN STATION


A cabbie was punched and racially abused as he waited outside a Warrington railway station. Police say the 33-year-old man was assaulted while at work outside Warrington Bank Quay. Officers were called out to reports of the assault outside the station, on


Parker Street, at 10.40pm on Friday 12 January. The driver did not have


a


passenger with him before the offender approached him. A 36-year-old man from Newton- le-Willows has been arrested on suspicion of assault and has since


been released on conditional bail. Enquiries are ongoing and Cheshire Police is urging any witnesses, or anyone with video footage, to come forward. They are asked to contact Cheshire Police online, or call 101, quoting 24000060231.


WEYMOUTH CABBIE GRABBED BY NECK AND PUNCHED BY PASSENGER ON CHRISTMAS DAY


A taxi driver was “grabbed by the neck” and “punched” whilst driving passengers home on Christmas Day. The victim – a male taxi driver aged in his 40s – picked up two men and two women from The Punch Bowl Inn in Easton on Portland on

December 25. Around 9.40pm whilst driving on Lanehouse Rocks Road, one of the male passengers grabbed the victim by the neck. When stationary, the victim asked the man to leave the taxi and the suspect forced the driver’s door open, before punching the victim


and damaging the vehicle. The suspect made off in the direction of Vines Place


and


Leamington Road. Fortunately, the victim did not sustain any serious injuries. Officers are appealing for wit- nesses to come forward.
