..THE NPHTA AT WORK..

“To help drivers and operators of taxis and private hire vehi- cles stay safe, prevent the spread of coronavirus, and ensure passengers are well informed the department has produced sector-specific guidance for the taxi and private hire vehicle (PHV) industry. You can access the latest, clearer formatted guidance on GOV.UK by clicking here. “To make our messages and assets easy to find, and in response to your feedback, we have created a PHV and taxi specific section to our extranet which you can find here. This is where you will find two new assets that can be downloaded and shared on your channels, one aimed at drivers, and the other aimed at passengers, to remind and encourage every- one to travel safely.”

One example is below, but there are others in various sizes for differing vehicles: shorturl.at/zBMO5

us to take part and be directly involved in an advisory capacity in the discussions to move our forgotten industry forward. This of course has then led to various detailed reports being prepared including the submission of a clear picture of the state of our industry right now, an idea of the type of ongoing costs, the level of impact on our members and a general overview in order for a fuller report to be prepared for Ministers, this report has been sent and published.

The proverbial wall seems to have developed an open door, and we are more than happy to walk through that door (and leave a shoe in there to keep it open) and have the discussions at the upper levels in order to do “whatever it takes” (sorry https://www.rishisunak.com/ but I had to pinch your phrase there since it fits so well)

The meetings have not stopped, merely started; the guidance is the first step, the various funding proposals being offered by many local authorities for drivers is another, although some of the offers, conditions, and application processes do leave a lot to be desired. So we have raised this issue with the powers that be too, in the hope that further, improved, clearer, and simpler application processes may be issued for this.

There are many more to come; this is almost like watching a baby learn to walk, one step at a time. The NPHTA is very hopeful that further support and assistance is to come; obviously we’ll keep you posted.

At this point I would like to personally thank every single person who has been actively involved in those various agencies and government groups for their continued support - long may this excellent working relationship continue.

Stay safe!

Join the NPHTA now! When we shout, we only have the voice of our membership - the more of you that join us, the louder our voice becomes.

This guidance is now much clearer, since we said the multitude of links and posts had made it very confusing for not only our members, but also for the travelling public.

THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING…

We must also point out that this is merely the starting point of many more things that we are discussing and measures that are being put in place.

We have most definitely gone from our extremely frustrating position a few months ago where we felt that we were banging our heads against a brick wall here and wondering just who we had to shout at to get any responses, to the position we are in now, where government agencies are emailing us daily, inviting
