AWARDING ACHIEVEMENT LINCS CABBIE CAROLYN IS TAXI DRIVER OF THE YEAR
Carolyn Bath, a driver with Woodside Taxis of Sleaford, has been awarded the title of Taxi Driver of the Year by Lincolnshire Coun- ty Council. Local school children were asked to vote for their favourite driver and Carolyn was nom- inated and chosen for always going that extra mile and ensur- ing the children have a safe and pleasant jour- ney to and from school. Carolyn was awarded with a certificate and plaque to note her achievement as well as a VIP day out at the Life Skills Centre for drivers in North Kyme, run by Lin- colnshire

where she took part in some exciting activities and learned new skills. Carolyn said it was a
total surprise that she had been nominated by the 12 children she picks up from sur- rounding villages and
takes by minibus to Osbournby School each day. She told the Sleaford Standard: “It is very nice to be
appreciated. “Lincolnshire County Council has over 4,000 drivers and pas- senger assistants who could have won this award, so to be cho- sen is absolutely fantastic. “The children certainly brighten up my day and provide much entertainment - I now know who Plan B and Example are too!” Parent of two grown- up children, Carolyn says she treats the youngsters as if they were her own and has done this for the last two years of her 12-year
driving
career. She added: “Now I have little brothers and sisters on the run after older ones grew
up and move on.” The children said Car- olyn “makes sure we are safe, is helpful and kind” and “is polite, does not allow poor behaviour, makes sure the door is shut”. The county council acknowledges
the
dedication and valu- able service provided by Carolyn and Wood- side Taxis. The awards were given as part of the ‘Max Respect’ pro- gramme which is a toolbox of good ideas to promote, encour- age and reward well behaved travel on home to school trans- port.
