IFAT 2020 New date:

7–11 September 2020

Taking place every other year in Munich, IFAT is the world’s leading trade fair for water, sewage and raw materials management. Originally planned for a May 2020 event, Messe München which organises the biennial IFAT show, were one of the first to announce a change in their 2020 schedule.

It was announced that purchased tickets and redeemed vouchers will remain valid for the September event.

Hillhead 2020 New date:

22-24 June 2021

Hillhead, the UK’s largest quarrying, construction and recycling event, is traditionally a biennial event, so its postponement by 12 months seems to mark a whole new schedule for it going forward.

“The health and safety of exhibitors, visitors, contractors and employees is our number one priority and with the peak of the epidemic predicted to coincide with the show in June, this would be severely compromised,” explained Hillhead event director Richard Bradbury.

Complete Auto Recycling Show (CARS) & Metals

Recycling Event (MRE) 2020 New date:

18 & 19 November 2020

CARS is Europe’s leading and largest event for the end-of-life vehicle recycling and dismantling industry, while MRE is Europe’s leading event for the metals recycling sector. Event organiser, Ali McQueen said: “The health and safety of our visitors, exhibitors and the wider community is our number one priority and it would not be fair to run the show in June as planned.

“We are hopeful that the situation improves over the next couple of months and look forward to running a successful event in November. We’d like to thank everyone involved for their support and wish them well throughout this challenging time”.

Plantworx 2021 New date: 15-17 June 2022

Plantworx and Hillhead are traditionally held in alternate years. Therefore, to free up 2021 for the Hillhead show, the Construction Equipment Association (CEA) agreed to push it’s own show back 12 months as well, so that the two stayed in accord.

Plantworx show director Simon Frere- Cook MBE commented: “We had some great plans for 2021, but they will remain intact for 2022. We will also make sure that there are Plantworx- related activities right through to 2022 in support of our industry.”

“Following an extensive consultation process, the decision has been taken to delay the event by a year to allow market conditions to stabilise and to best support the construction and quarrying industry during this challenging period.”

On behalf of the NRC team, I would like to thank everyone for their hard work and support. Rest assured the National Refuse Championships will be back bigger than ever in 2021!”

National Refuse Championships (NRC) 2020

Next event: June 2021 (date to be confirmed)

A relatively recent addition to the industry calendar, the NRC has very quickly established itself as a must- attend event for many within the waste industry, as binmen and women compete in bin lorry-loading races on Weston-super-Mare seafront to raise money for The Alzheimer’s Society.

2020 would have been the NRC’s fourth annual event.

Spencer Law, founder of NRC, said: “On behalf of the NRC team, I would like to thank everyone for their hard work and support. Rest assured the National Refuse Championships will be back bigger than ever in 2021!”
