O

ver the course of the last few issues of Information Profes- sional I have enjoyed speaking to and learning more about some of this year’s CILIP Conference speakers. It has been a fascinating process watching conference come together as speakers are added to the programme, and it has been equally fascinating talking to just a few of those speakers. So, with just a few weeks to go until Conference opens this is the

final issue before I head to Birmingham for and event that is shaping up to be full of value and insight for everyone who attends. Once again we have spoken to some of those who will be providing that insight. Jo Walley and Jess Pawley will be discussing imposter syndrome in the context of leadership – an internal conflict many of us will have grappled with at some point in our careers. Rest assured you are not alone, and both Jess and Jo talk about how to overcome these feelings in an a Q&A on page 24. Regular Information Professional columnist Hélène Russell will be leading a session at conference on psychological safety and the value it can bring to organisation that is genuinely committed to learning from mistakes. She talks to Paula Reid about what that means on page 19. You can find out more about this year’s conference on page 17, as organiser Louise Greener talks us through the latest news. There is also a real sense that this year’s conference will be a place to do business, and you can find out all about the exhibitors on page 18. Elsewhere in this issue, you will notice that it is awards season for children’s books, with not one but two celebrations including our cover story on the Yoto Carnegies. There is a pleasing intersec- tion with the Tir Na n-Og awards which recognise the best books in the Welsh language and from Welsh heritage. Elsewhere in publishing, the fallout from a mass-resignation at one of Elsevier’s journals is explored by CILIP reporter Rob Mackinlay. What starts as a small ripple in the multi-billion dollar journal business has the potential to spread. Only time will tell if it heralds a tidal wave of change for academic publishing. There is also some interesting research on the state of the work- force, and while this issue carries an overview of the project, it is something I’m sure we’ll be covering in much more depth in the coming months. I’ll be at Conference on 12 and 13 July, and looking forward to meeting as many of you there as possible. Don’t forget, there is still time to book your place if you haven’t already.
