AGM NEWS
Thinking about joining the CILIP Board or Presidential Team?
You should be able to demonstrate: Vision, enthusiasm, excellent commu- nication and interpersonal skills. A commitment to CILIP, fully support- ing our charitable objectives, ethics and values. Experience of working with senior colleagues or at Board level. An understanding of the legal and financial responsibilities of the Board. A clear commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
How much time does it take? The Board meets four to five times a year. We expect most Board meetings to be held virtually with one or two face-to- face meetings throughout the year. You would need to spend about 10 days a year to prepare for and attend the Board.
How many people are there on the Board?
There can be up to 15 people on the Board: Up to 12 trustees elected by the members. Three trustees can also be co-opted.
What experience are we looking for in our next Vice-President? We would like the President for 2024 to take ‘We Are CILIP’ as their theme for the year, with a particular focus on open- ing up and broadening our professional membership, so we would be particularly pleased to receive nominations for people with senior level experience in this area.
Will I be paid? CILIP’s Trustees and Presidential Team
are volunteers and these positions are unpaid but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
How long would I serve for? We are looking for three Trustees to serve for four years. If elected as Vice-President, you would serve as Vice-President in 2023 and as Presi- dent in 2024.
How can I find out more? Details of how to stand and role descriptions can be found at

org.uk/boardelections22. Nominations close at 5pm on 30 September 2022. If you have any questions or for fur- ther information, please contact Nick Poole (
