Management and Preservation, which provides an understanding of contemporary archives, informa- tion and records management issues, focusing on the management of digital records and electronic resources, and how to manage these alongside analogue resources.


The department has a short microcredentials course, An Introduction to Information Man- agement accredited in 2022. This introduces the fundamentals of records and information management and the legislative framework that all organisations need to comply with. Aimed at those who manage and use information in their current or prospective employment, or those seeking to re-skill or up-skill.

The Computer and Information Sciences depart- ment has four CILIP accredited courses. One is the MSc/PgDip Information & Library Studies, a conversion degree, designed for graduates from any discipline, providing a range of skills including the ability to organise, synthesise, and make use of information for the advancement of society.


The Digital Health Systems course opens the door to one of the fastest growing economic sectors worldwide with students learning about state-of-the-art devices (sensors, wearables, apps), systems (electronic health records, remote monitoring) and methods (co-design, machine learning and data analytics) as-well-as how to deliver real world digital health solutions. The MSc in Information Management has been developed in consultation with industry practitioners. Subjects include business analysis, data analytics and information law. This course will give you the skills to identify and analyse organisational information needs, contribute to strategic development of organisational infor- mation management and develop technological solutions to problems.

University of Glasgow (iSchool) CILIP accredited degree programmes offered by


Glasgow include its Museum Studies programme (the only one in the UK accredited by CILIP), and its MA (hons) in Digital Media & Information Studies which explores the creation, use, and impact of dig- ital content and information in the arts, humanities and society at large. It brings a human perspective to the issues of the digital age.

The MSc Information Management is vocational and practice-oriented with a balance of tradi- tional information and knowledge management teaching, as well as embracing cutting edge developments in data science and analytics. Stu- dents who completed the recent Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) for 2021-2022 gave us a 92 per cent student satisfaction rating! The curriculum has been devised with CILIP’s revised PKSB in mind, as well as reflecting the challenges and changes we face in our data and information driven world. Students have the flexibility to specialise in any areas of interest through the selection of optional modules to complement their career aspirations. For the 2022-2023 academic year we continue to offer a wide range of options from Business Intelligence to Designing the User Experience, and we are always evaluating our modules to reflect the changing requirements of our information world. All our modules can also be studied individually as Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
