Recycle your wrapper
DON’T forget that you can recycle your CILIP delivery wrap at most major super- markets.
The wrap is fully recyclable and can be dropped off with other “stretchy” plastics in supermarket bag recycling points. Most larger supermarkets have an in-store collec- tion point, so you can drop off the wrapper when you next visit. For more information visit

Unlimited innovation rewarded
LIBRARIES Unlimited has been named as one of the country’s top innovators. The Library service for Devon and Torbay was named among the UK’s 50 most radical thinkers by Nesta, the innovation foundation, and the Observer newspaper. Nesta Chief Executive Geoff Mulgan said: “Being a radical means going against the grain and taking big risks. But this list shows that Britain’s radical traditions are as strong as ever. “While one part of our politics and society drifts into a permanent state of angry moaning, another part is getting on with making the best of things. That’s surely the best way to stay sane and hopeful.”

Jo Cornish, CILIP’s Chief Development Officer, said: “This has been an immensely rewarding project to be a part of, the PKSB is a key resource, underpinning CILIP’s offer since 2014. We envision an exciting future for the profession and I am delighted to have a revised PKSB online tool which both meets the current needs of the profession and is future-facing.” As well as supporting all those who are enrolled in CILIP’s Professional Registra- tion, the PKSB and online tool provide valuable insight for anyone looking to
develop their career. CILIP Describes the PKSB as “a valuable career develop- ment tool, developed specially for our members. Data-driven librarianship webinars has been
A FREE three-part webinar series on data-driven librarianship
curated for librarians by Nielsen Book and is available on the CILIP website, with a CILIP-recognised certificate for course completion. Run by the experts from Nielsen on discovery and research, the webinars aim to show librarians how to “harness the power of data” and include further resources and exercises to complete in your own time. The course will help develop a greater understanding of metadata and the data elements available to libraries to better understand users and inform
decision-making on buying and stock selection. It will look at book market trends and how these can help librar- ies cater to their readers and how it relates to libraries and how to use it in stock selection. It will also show LibScan participants how to access a wealth of information on loans.
Two of the three webinars are already available online, with the third lunchtime webinar taking place on 22 September. Catch up any time via the recordings at
www.cilip.org.uk/datadrivenlibrarianship – and participants will be able to access fur- ther resources and a range of follow-up exercises.
