Who can stand for election? Candidates wishing to stand for election as Vice-President or as a trustee must generally be an ordinary member of CILIP on submission of their nomination, or be willing to join within one month of sub- mission. They must not be disqualified from holding office as a Trustee. Nomination forms, with information about how to stand for these positions, can be downloaded from the CILIP web- site at

Voting
If either election is contested, a ballot will be held. All members eligible to vote and with an email address registered with CILIP, will receive an email with full information on how to vote online. Only those members for whom CILIP does

Thinking about joining the CILIP Board or Presidential Team Members have the opportunity to put themselves forward to serve as a trustee or the Vice-President. If elected, you will work with other trustees, the Presidential Team and staff to set CILIP’s strategic direction and make sure that members’ interests are met and secure. The Board is responsible for making sure that the organisation is financially sound and complies with the law. As part of our commitment to equality and diversity we are actively encouraging members from all backgrounds to consider standing, particularly those from BAME com- munities. We will offer complimentary membership to library and information workers from BAME backgrounds who are duly selected.
Who can stand? You must be at least 18 years old and a member, or be willing to join within one month of submission as above.
What skills and experience do I need? You should be able to demonstrate: Vision, enthusiasm, excellent com- munication and interpersonal skills. A

How much time does it take? The Board meets four to five times a year. We expect most Board meetings to be held virtually with one or two face-to-face meetings throughout the year. You would need to spend about 10 days a year to prepare for and attend the Board.
How many people are there on the Board? There can be up to 15 people on the Board: Up to 12 trustees elected by the members. Three trustees can also be co-opted.
Will I be paid? CILIP’s trustees and Presidential Team are volunteers and these positions are unpaid but reasona- ble expenses will be reimbursed.
How long would I serve for? We are looking for two trustees to serve for four years. If elected as Vice-President, you would serve as Vice-President in 2022 and as President in 2023.
