Libraries Week is a celebration of the nation’s much-loved libraries and Bolinda are thrilled to be supporting this year, celebrating how libraries support active and engaged commu- nities. As part of Libraries Week 2021, Bolinda will be helping libraries provide collections of eAudiobooks and eBooks around Mental Health, Diversity and Climate Acton to help libraries, and their users, ~ShareTheChange’.

Bolinda provides public libraries with the number one solution for eBooks and eAudiobooks, delivering the best range of UK and International publish- ers directly to library users through BorrowBox, your library in one app.

for coming together and taking action. This is an opportunity to display how libraries and individuals are making a difference in their communities and inspiring others to take action.” A number of library services have already come forward with projects and initiatives to inspire others to #ShareTheChange and demonstrate how libraries can be a driver for inclu- sion, sustainability, social mobility and community cohesion.

Some examples of how libraries are Taking Action, Changing Lives include:

l Connecting Merton – The project aims to extend the reach of Merton Libraries and reduce digital exclusion in the borough through the delivery of an innovative scheme for vulnerable and isolated residents who will be able to get IT equipment on loan from Merton libraries. The devices can be borrowed for a period of three months with the option of renewal if someone else does not reserve it.

Residents can choose from a range of more than 200 devices including high quality laptops, tablets and Amazon

Echo Shows, as well as pre-paid mobile broadband available to those residents without internet access at home.

l Edinburgh Book Festival at HM Prison Library – In partnership with Edinburgh Book Festival, Edinburgh Libraries at HM Prison, Edinburgh, welcomed Matt Wesolowski to talk about his journey as an author and to answer questions from keen readers and aspiring writers in prison.

l Virtually Together – East Renfrews- hire Libraries Tackling Social Isolation and Loneliness, in partnership with colleagues from Renfrewshire libraries and the University of the West of Scot- land, are delivering a project looking at how virtual reality can be used to tackle social isolation and loneliness. Following a successful SLIC Public Library Im- provement Fund bid to fund the project, a number of Oculus Quest VR headsets were purchased for each project partner. The idea is to use the technology to bring people together to enjoy shared experi- ences in a group setting while at the same time exposing people to new and interest- ing technology that most people will be unaware of, let alone have access to.
