BRIEF ACADEM


Finding and refining pract ices, solut ions, and act ivi t ies that promote student achievement are always tasks that administrators, teachers, and staff happi ly tackle. On September 3, 2019, the Special Educat ion depar tment invi ted CVUSD administrators, staff, and communi ty par tners to tour the newly developed BRIEF Academy--the latest resource for student achievement . The Bui lding Respect , Independence, Excel lence, and Fami ly (BRIEF) Academy provides a suppor t ive environment that addresses the unique educat ion, behavioral , and social /emot ional needs of students. The Academy provides an intensive, shor t-term suppor t for K-3 students who demonstrate behavioral chal lenges that are impeding their abi l i ty for educat ional progress. Refer red through the Individual ized Educat ion Program (IEP), students at BRIEF learn through an interdiscipl inary plan that assists them

wi th returning to their home school . The BRIEF Academy is staffed wi th a Special Educat ion teacher , Behavior Aide, Speech and Language Pathologist , Occupat ional Therapist , Educat ional ly Related Mental Heal th Counselor , and a board-cer t i fied Behavior Analyst . BRIEF academy also comes equipped wi th a sensory room where students have mul t iple suppor ts avai lable for their needs.
