CVUSD enrol ls some of the br ightest scholars in the country. High school students have the opt ion of taking Advance Placement (AP) courses that give them the oppor tuni ty to tackle col lege-level work whi le st i l l in high school and earn col lege credi t and placement . Approximately 1.24 mi l l ion students take an est imated 4.22 mi l l ion AP exams nat ional ly and CVUSD is home to 635 such scholars. Students take AP courses as par t of their regular 1-6 per iod schedule and prepare for a nat ional exam that is given annual ly in May. The proctored exam averages anywhere between two to three hours and consists of mul t iple choice and free-response quest ions. The AP Col lege Board offers 38 subjects across seven areas that include AP Capstone, Ar ts, Engl ish, History and Social Sciences, Math and Computer Science, Sciences, and AP W or ld Languages and Cul tures. DID YOU KNOW?


For the fi fth year in a row, 8th thru 12th grade students are el igible to take their PSAT and SAT exams for free. Through the Distr ict?s contract wi th Col lege Board, 8th, 9th, and 10th grade students pract ice the SAT test format and i tem types to assist wi th earning higher scores when they take the SAT exam dur ing their junior and senior years. Students wi l l also have access to free, personal ized pract ice through Khan Academy. This free training includes personal ized study plans, pract ice quest ions and video lessons, as wel l as eight official ful l -length pract ice tests.
