Chino High School Students Serve as UN Am

Combat cl imate change. Promote peaceful societ ies. Revi tal ize global par tnerships. W e?ve al l heard or dreamed about achieving more for our local and global communi t ies. This summer , four Chino High School students par t icipated in the W or ld Organizat ion for Sustainabi l i ty Leadership?s (W OSL) Junior UN Ambassador Program to take on these and 13 other high-profi le issues.


Seniors Anissa Gaspar , Richie Becer ra, and Yubin Cha and junior Mat thew Van joined students from Singapore and China at Claremont Graduate Universi ty where they completed a service-learning program designed to inspire young persons in becoming change agents and thought leaders for the next generat ion.

Before complet ing the program, students were invi ted to present their findings to a board of exper ts and defend their posi t ion by answer ing quest ions and offer ing addi t ional suppor t ing evidence.

For Anissa Gaspar , she was amazed by how much she enjoyed stepping out of her comfor t zone and working wi th new col leagues toward a single and common goal . Focused on a career in heal thcare after graduat ion, Richie Becer ra was exci ted to be par t of something bigger than him and trying something new.
