Being a lifeguard is a great first step in your career!
As a lifeguard, you’ll learn multiple water rescues, first aid, and CPR. It teaches valuable, transferable skills, including leadership, teamwork, and quick decision-making. Of course, you’ll enhance your physical fitness too!
Lifeguards have a huge role in keeping others safe around water— they do more than watching the water. Our lifeguards also train to become swim instructors, coaches, and educate our community on water safety topics.
Interested in becoming a lifeguard? Follow these steps to join our aquatic family at the Avondale Aquatic Center!
1. Apply Online: Visit
www.AvondaleAZ.gov/Jobs to submit your application.
2. Interview & Swim Test: Attend an oral interview and participate in a pre-lifeguard swim test.
3. Receive Job Offer: If selected, you’ll receive a job offer.
4. Complete Onboarding: Finalize all necessary paperwork and complete the onboarding process.
5. Become Lifeguard Certified: The lifeguard certification course is free, and we'll pay you for attending!

We're turning our pools over to the pooches for a splashtastic day of fun, frolic, and fetch.
