FREIGHTSAFE JOINS THE DRIVE TO SOLVE EUROPE’S SEVERE LACK OF SECURE PARKING SOLUTIONS FOR TRUCKS AND TRAILERS
• Each Freightsafe encloses a single trailer and access is controlled remotely by the logistics service provider that booked it
• Once the trailer is safely parked, the inside of the Freightsafe becomes a no-motion zone
• Any movement will trigger an alarm that is linked to a 24/7 guarding team that will be called to site
• Freightsafes are 360° covered, inside and out, by Bosch CCTV cameras and monitored around-the-clock by a Bosch monitoring centre in Germany

Supply chains in the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region are desperately seeking more secure parking locations for trucks and trailers carrying high value, theft targeted loads. The quickest solution to close the huge gap between supply and demand is to encourage more existing parking sites to meet the minimum standards set out in TAPA’s Parking Security Requirements (PSR).
Now, these sites and others are being offered an innovative solution by Freightsafe and its partner Bosch Secure Truck Parking which not only claims to reinvent trailer parking and cargo security but also helps to address issues linked to driver shortages, the need to reduce CO2 emissions, and will support the upcoming generation of carbon-free trucks. Their business model also includes putting in place an insurance package that stands behind the service should Freightsafe not perform to the standards it sells.
Freightsafes are built to demand with leasing and sales models planned. Right now, founder Charlie Anderson says the first two sites are in operation; with two Freightsafes at a parking location in Magdeburg in Germany and another at the
Swedish port of Trelleborg. Freightsafe is also signing up more sites in Sweden in Jönköping, Malmö, Gothenburg, Helsingborg and Stockholm, which will be available in the next 12 months.
Freightsafe says the modular cargo bays are designed to be installed at existing properties and offer the opportunity for drivers to easily and safely share journeys and swap trailers. Solar panels also provide a sustainable solution for charging and operating refrigerated trailer units, as well as carbon-free, electric vehicles which will replace diesel-powered trucks and trailers in the coming years.
So, how does it work?
• A transport dispatcher reserves a Freightsafe using the Bosch Secure Truck Parking tool
“There are hundreds, if not thousands, of truck- related properties that are perfectly suited to supporting our secure parking solution,” Charlie Anderson says. “It is our objective to use this existing network to grow site-by-site, customer-by-customer. We believe the secret is scalability. You can build Freightsafes into a network very quickly.”
The value of scale includes: •
Investors can monetise this given the current shortage of 400,000 secure parking places and the lack of 2,000 parking sites in Europe alone
• Customers can easily replicate this standard across the Freightsafe network
• Existing parking operators can buy into a network and better monetise their existing infrastructure at no financial risk because Freightsafe always invests at its own cost
“We’ve joined TAPA EMEA to start a discussion with members and we’ve already learned so much. Such communications will help us build a bridge with our investors, who are then so much more inclined to invest in this industry. We are ready to talk to any TAPA members that recognise the value we can offer or want to know more about the Freightsafe solution.”
