Ap Boom


Chief Financial & Compliance Officer


Location: Utrecht, The Netherlands


Previous career: Ap is a former volunteer member of the region’s Board of Directors and joined the full-time team after more than 20 years in the security industry, holding senior security management roles in the retail and ICT services sectors.


Ap’s career in supply chain security started when he joined TNT in 2009 and, later, DHL International. Prior to accepting this new post, he spent over four years with Amazon, latterly as Senior Manager EMEA Security & Loss Prevention.


New role & responsibilities: Driving TAPA EMEA’s financial and compliance performance, enabling TAPA EMEA to grow in a professional way and continue to be a fit-for-purpose Association, plus realising the necessary conditions so that we fulfil the commitment to our members and meet all regulatory obligations.


Goal over the next 2-3 years: With the support of all members and the professional team, TAPA EMEA will be recognised as the best-in-class Supply Chain Resilience knowledge organisation, assisting supply chain buyers, service providers and suppliers with the best Security and Resilience framework and solutions.

Last month, TAPA EMEA announced the appointments of Ap Boom and Markus Prinz to its full-time team. Vigilant asked them to tell us more about their new roles…


Markus Prinz


Senior Manager Standards & Training


Location: Aachen, Germany; close to the Dutch and Belgium border


Previous career: Markus was also a former member of the TAPA EMEA Board of Directors with Lead responsibility for the region’s FSR and TSR training programme. During this time, he led the transformation of the Association’s training provision, delivering new tools and materials, and producing the online training courses experienced by over 1,000 members in the past year. Markus spent over 20 years with logistic services providers in Germany, most recently as Senior Manager Quality & Security Systems at Hammer GmbH.


New role & responsibilities: Support and organise training solutions to TAPA’s Security Standards using new technology to improve training delivery and accessibility. Increase our footprint with driver trainings and a TAPA ‘starter training’ for security professionals. Also, supporting the Standards Team and IABs in relation to audits and certifications, and helping more members with their TAPA Standards requirements.


Goal over the next 2-3 years: To make the TAPA Standards understandable and tangible for every user/member. To convey the Standards to every member and to make the supporting training more flexible. To help drive the next generation of developments and benefits for our members.
