ARE YOU GETTING THE MESSAGE?

Some members have told us our TAPA EMEA communications messages are landing in their Spam folders. You can fix this by confirming @tapaemea.org as one of your trusted domains.

Please do this today and make sure you don’t miss any of our cargo crime incident alerts, webinar invitations, Standards news, or Vigilant issues .. or the other regular information we issue to support the resilience of your supply chains.

YOU TALK, WE LISTEN

TAPA’s Security Standards are the best supply chain resilience standards.

In this issue, both Björn Hartong of Zurich Insurance and Ton Barten of Truckparkings Rotterdam Exploitatie BV highlight the value of our Standards in their comments addressing loss prevention and secure truck parking respectively. This value stems from the fact that our FSR, TSR and PSR are all based on the requirements of our members. Every three years, you tell us how we can improve our Security Standards and we listen and act.

One of the main changes in the latest 2020 revision of our Facility Security Requirements was the introduction of our new IAB-audited Multisite certification, which allows companies to list multiple sites under one parent certification. This clearly makes sense for a lot of companies that want to comply with

TAPA’s requirements across their networks of stations.

We are already seeing the value of this decision. As you will have read, DHL has completed the very first multisite certification covering 27 of its sites across the UK. They are already talking about doing more, and we are confident more of our members in the EMEA region are working towards this objective too.

Congratulations to the DHL team and thank you for your trust in TAPA’s FSR and outstanding commitment to our Security Standards. We truly value your support.

Multisite certification is an amazing opportunity to optimise your TAPA FSR certification programmes. It

is designed to be more time and cost efficient, and to support the best ROI for your security operations. If you have yet to think about all of the benefits or need help to get started, the TAPA Standards Team are waiting to hear from you.

WE LIKE THIS…

If we had an award for outstanding law enforcement work in EMEA to bring cargo criminals to justice, there would be a clear winner this month… the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, who have just detained 11 people in connection with two thefts of phone shipments at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport with a total loss value of €19 million. This is the outcome of a year-long investigation and resulted in arrests across the country. Among the items seized by detectives were 9,200 phones, several gold bars and €141,000 in cash. This will no doubt feature strongly in our February IIS incident report. Outstanding police work by all concerned! Do you know of any more LEA successes like this? If so, please share them with us.

CALL THE POLICE!

I want to … but I need your help. In many countries in EMEA we receive valuable cargo crime incident data from law enforcement agencies – but we know there is much, much more we can obtain if we start talking to the right people. Our IIS proposition to LEAs is very powerful and makes perfect sense from a policing perspective. Preventing cargo crime reduces the pressure on LEA resources and the first step in helping us do this is to make our member companies more informed about the risks they face at a local and national level. I know many TAPA members have developed good working relationships with police contacts. Can you introduce us?
