TAPA STANDARDS MILESTONE

“This didn’t ruin the experience of the audit but I got the impression it was more challenging for the IAB. Further to this, although DHL have templates for the physical checks within the audit, it may be of benefit to members if there was a library within the TAPA website where such templates were held for members to adopt. This would standardise some generic process evidence.”

Going forward, what is DHL’s plan now for using the multisite certification option?

Francis Ktenidis: “DHL UK plans to continue on this journey and to grow with TAPA, certifying further sites as we continue to invest in infrastructure and security. We expect to certify further facilities in the UK in 2021 under our multisite certification.”

Adrian Whelan, Head of Global Security, added: “DHL Express/DHL International globally is delighted to be first to achieve multisite certification. As the global

leader in terms of number of facilities certified to TAPA’s FSR Standard, we are constantly evaluating the most effective and efficient methods by which we can maintain our market-leading position so as to provide our customers with the most secure supply chains.”

WELCOME TO OUR NEW MEMBERS

Daniel Curling, SGS

At SGS we have been working in partnership with TAPA for many years and assist TAPA members in achieving their certification goals which ultimately contributes to the TAPA mission to minimize cargo losses from the supply chain. As a globally- approved Authorized Independent Audit Body for TAPA Standards, SGS was excited to continue this journey with the introduction of the updated Standards

in 2020 and the multisite certification approach. The certification process has evolved and gives more opportunity for an increase in the number of certified facilities. This leads to a more holistic and consistent approach, whilst also becoming more cost effective due to the multisite certification process. It is important to note that for the multisite certification process, the preparation and audit of the Central Function is critical as well as a clearly defined security management structure. The award of this first multisite certification has shown that there is a well-established Security Management System across the business.”
