Abu Dhabi Airports appoints Bryan Thompson as CEO Bryan Thompson has been named Chief Executive Officer at Abu Dhabi Airports. Thompson (pictured above) boasts more


than 25 years’ experience in different areas of airport management. Most recently he served as Senior Vice


President – Development at Dubai Airports, where he led the strategic development of Dubai International and Dubai World Central. He has also taken in spells as CEO of


Launceston Airport and General Manager of Strategy, Planning and Development and General Manager of Assets and Infrastructure Planning at Melbourne International Airport. Abubaker Seddiq Al Khouri, Chairman of


the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Airports said: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Bryan Thompson to lead the Abu Dhabi Airports at this critical stage in our journey to becoming the world’s leading airport group. “I am confident that his vast experience

TFWA MD John Rimmer to mark first year in Cannes TFWA Managing Director John Rimmer will mark his first year as Managing Director on 1 October at this year’s TFWA World Exhibition & Conference. Rimmer (above), who initially joined TFWA


in October 2012, has been involved in the DF&TR industry for almost 18 years. Previously Conference, Research


and Corporate Affairs Director, he succeeded former Managing Director Alain Maingreaud, who had held the role since 2010. In his new role, Rimmer assumes full


responsibility for the association’s events and activities and helping define its strategy as approved by the board and management committee. Speaking to TRBusiness as part of a wide-


ranging interview (see page 21), he said: “The first year has flown by which is a good thing. My priority has always been to ensure we make our events as good as they can possibly be and continue to deliver value to exhibitors and delegates. “Our main challenge is to consistently


do more and do better with the events we have. The vital thing is that we are never complacent and listen to the views and concerns of our members, exhibitors and delegates, doing all we can to ensure they get a return on the considerable investment they make in attending our events.”


APTRA launches search for new Executive Officer The Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA) has launched a search for a ‘talented individual to execute the strategic


plans of the Association and manage its various activities’, following the resignation of Michael Barrett, Executive Officer (pictured above), last month. APTRA says it has appointed an executive


search agency to assist with the task. “In the interim, international agency


Hume Brophy, with which APTRA has been collaborating on advocacy issues over the past 18 months, will manage the affairs of the association, reporting directly to Andrew Ford, President, and the members of the Board,” said APTRA. The administration of the association on a


day-to-day basis will continue to be handled by Sharolyn Paul who can be contacted at admin@aptra.asia.
