GEOGRAPHY FACULTY OF SCIENCE Geography

Work with some of the most renowned scholars in the fields of glaciology, hydrology, spatial modelling, political economy, historical and cultural geography, and environmental change.

Why study Geography at Bristol? Geography is a rich discipline that will stimulate and challenge you. You will be exposed to the latest research in everything from glaciology and hydrology to spatial modelling, political economy and environmental change.

You will be able to choose specialist units in years two and three, comprising human geography, physical geography or a combination. Each specialist unit will help you engage with cutting-edge material by developing your knowledge and skills.

Field trips and practical work are key components of the course. In year one there are UK residential trips and an informal weekend where you can meet fellow students before term starts. In year two there are field trip opportunities overseas. The skills that you acquire throughout your studies will be applied in a self-directed dissertation project, which comprises a large part of the degree.

The School of Geographical Sciences is a partner in Bristol Q-Step, which is part of a national initiative offering enhanced skills training in the social sciences.

Human geography topics range from economic development and global politics to inequalities of health and contemporary social theory.
