Based in St. Petersburg, Fla., Solvere Living has been contracted to operate six addition- al senior living communities: a communi- ty under development in Tampa, Fla., an existing community in Baltimore, Md., and four existing communities in Texas. With the addition of the six communities, Sol- vere Living now operates 17 communities in eight states, including Florida, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Michigan, Oklaho- ma, Texas, and Virginia.
Watercrest Senior Living, based in Vero Beach, Fla., broke ground on Watercrest Winter Park Assisted Living and Memory Care in Winter Park, Fla. The community, which will off er 75 assisted living and 32 memory care residenc- es, is scheduled for completion in late 2019. Community features will include a prome- nade, pool, fi replace, signature water wall, multiple dining venues, children’s play space, grand balconies, and Southern style outdoor living spaces. Benchmark named Doron Kathein as execu- tive director to lead The Village at Mariner’s Point, located in East Haven, Conn. Most recently, he managed The Village’s sister community in Brighton, Mass. Prior to his transition to senior living, Kathein had a career in hospitality managing hotels in Israel, New York City, and Beverly Hills. The company also welcomed Kelly Ellis as external director of community relations at Wellington at Hershey’s Mill located in West Chester, Pa. She will be responsible for tar- geted referral sources from among commu- nity associations, the medical community, and relevant professional societies.
Five Star Senior Living, based in Newton, Mass., announced that president and CEO
Bruce Mackey will retire at the end of 2018. Mackey has been with Five Star since its founding in 2001 and has served as president and CEO since 2008. Katherine Potter has been appointed as president and CEO of Five Star eff ective January 1, 2019. She has worked for Five Star since 2012 and most re- cently served as executive vice president and general counsel.
