MEMORY CARE
What the Business is About Shook said the best way to describe what the Silverado’s memory care business is working to achieve is as fundamental as it is broad: change the world and how memory care services are delivered. “And that’s what we stand for. And that’s
what we’re about doing. We’ll share a lot of what we learned to do. We’ll speak on it,” he said, citing as an example the com- pany’s Nexus program. This is the leading program in early-stage memory care with evidence-based results reviewed by the University of California, San Diego. Nexus is comprised of a planned set
of activities shown by research to ben- efit cognition and memory function for individuals in the earlier stages of living with dementia. The company had high expectations for Nexus when it launched, but the results have surpassed those initial expectations. Academic research has validated par-
ticipants in Nexus at Silverado showed a statistically significant 60% improvement in cognition when compared to those without such treatment, Shook said.
