Resources Resources WE CAN HELP!

Suppliers and other organisations realise that Covid-19 has created unprecedented challenges for schools. Here are some who want to do their bit to help with new offers and new ideas

can freeze pupils’ screens at the touch of a button – making sure that everybody is paying attention! There are also ‘Badges of Honour’,

which help children visualise their progress through lessons. Teachers can ‘power up’ badges as pupils finish lessons, complete quizzes, or demonstrate exemplary online behaviour. Schools and teachers can visit natterhub.com and sign up for a free account. They will then be guided to set up log-ins for parents and pupils. If parents would like their child’s teacher or school to sign-up they can recommend them by visiting natterhub.com/refer.

New social

media platform Making sure children stay safe online is even more crucial during lockdown, when their social media activity is probably higher than usual. That’s why Natterhub – a safe social media platform for primary schools – has launched, and is now free for teachers to access. Natterhub provides a ‘gated’ experiential learning environment for children. It’s aligned with UKCIS and PSHE/ RSE to help schools weave online safety throughout the curriculum. Teachers can use Natterhub to

demonstrate positive social media and screen use, and to interact with pupils and encourage discussion. The teacher-led online safety and media literacy lessons for KS1 and KS2 include interactive and

engaging content to help children become more digitally aware. Natterhub was founded by two

mums, one of whom has more than 20 years of teaching experience. There are no private chats, so everyone can see what’s happening, and all teachers have their information properly verified before they’re allowed to set up an account. Pupils cannot access the platform until their Hub has been ‘activated’ by their teacher, and teachers also have the ability to set daily time limits on how long the platform can be accessed. Features include quick quizzes to help pupils distinguish real news stories from fake ones, and Nattercalm – where pupils can reflect on the ideas they’ve been absorbing during a lesson, with the aid of soothing visuals.
