It is exciting to see Environmental Stewardship as the theme for this issue of FLOURISH! Throughout the years, Landis Homes and Landis Communities leaders have intentionally sought ways to implement environmentally friendly practices in our operations and expansion.
I
hope you enjoy the featured stories highlighting the use of geothermal energy at Mountain View Terrace and the “green” construction elements utilized at Landis Place on King, including the literally green roof surrounding me in this issue’s cover photo. “Green” buildings are designed to be environmentally friendly and use resources efficiently. Tey help reduce negative impacts on the environment and can even have positive effects through the use of sustainable energy sources and technology.
We were pleased that Landis Communities was invited to speak at the recent Climate Summit held in Lancaster. Te repurpose and reuse of the Steeple View Lofts building and the wetland preservation project at Landis Homes were some of the other key initiatives shared during the presentation.
In this issue you will also meet Beth, whose mother and daughter are both cared for through Landis at Home; Liliana, a Landis Homes resident from Romania who was thrilled to bring a taste of her childhood to her friends and neighbors; and Joe, a curious client of Landis Adult Day Services. It is such a blessing to learn of the people who are part of Landis Communities.
May 24th was a milestone day as residents began moving in at Landis Place on King! On June 16th, this new community came to life at our grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration. It has been incredible to watch the creation of this new community. We look forward to hearing the stories of those starting their next chapter in this thriving downtown Lancaster neighborhood.
