More than 34 million Americans served as caregivers in the last year, usually for a family member or loved one. Beth Frame, however, is responsible for the care of two family members. Beth’s mother, Beverly, is 87 years old and has been living with Alzheimer’s disease for about eight years. Beth’s 37-year-old daughter, Laura, uses an electric wheelchair and requires assistance with laundry and weekly grocery shopping.

eth was happy to be the primary caregiver for both her mother and daughter, but when her mother’s surgery in 2020 ended with complications, she realized she needed help.
“During the peak of the COVID-19 epidemic, my mother had one kidney removed,” remembers Beth. “Tere was a complication with the surgery. After five weeks in the hospital and rehab, my mother wanted to go back to her apartment but I knew I was not going to be able to meet all her needs. Landis at Home saved us and gave my mom the loving care she needed to make a full recovery.”
Beverly’s caregiver, Wanda, helps out five days per week. Beth believes that Wanda is the reason her mother is happy and healthy again.
“Wanda is a beautiful soul,” Beth says. “My mother has been able to avoid being moved to memory care because of her.”

When Beth noticed the wonderful care being given to her mother, she hoped that Landis at Home could also help her daughter, Laura. Although Laura lives independently with a roommate in a handicap-accessible house, she needs occasional assistance. Now, once per week, Landis at Home caregivers come to help with laundry, grocery shopping, and cleaning. Laura appreciates the fact that if her regular caregiver cannot make it, a substitute always takes their place. “I’ve always enjoyed the women from Landis at Home who have helped me,” says Laura. “Each kind person takes a personal interest in my life, shares information about themselves, and becomes a companion of mine.”
With her mom and daughter receiving the specialized care they deserve, Beth has the time for things she hasn’t been able to do in a while. “I visit my oldest daughter and grandchildren in Ohio frequently. My husband and I love to travel, so we have taken quite a few trips together and with friends. I am also able to visit family in New England without worrying!”
“Each Landis at Home caregiver really seems to enjoy the people they work with, and they show true compassion for my mom and daughter,” says Beth. “Tey do their jobs with honesty, professionalism, and integrity, and they manage the affairs of my mom and daughter carefully and thoughtfully. We greatly appreciate Landis at Home!”
