he warmer temperatures and signs of new life awaken something in us and encourage us to find ways to push


beyond our winter routines.


Nancy’s story (page 4) is inspiring! Living life in Lancaster City without a car has given her freedom and a sense of adventure as she walks, rides the bus and takes the train.


Landis Adult Day Services client, Bill (page 6), has countless exhilarating stories. From celebrities to presidents, Bill keeps his friends and the team at ADS enthralled with his life experiences.


Tese and other stories throughout this issue, remind me of the courageous steps taken during the history of Landis Communities. Tis year we are celebrating three significant milestones – 100 years for Welsh Mountain Home, 60 years for Landis Homes and 35 years for Landis Adult Day Services.


It is wonderful to look back and see the ways God led over the years. At the same time, I am encouraged that throughout Landis Communities, we are continuing to find new ways to welcome and serve additional older adults and build new communities of Christ-like love.


At Welsh Mountain Home, renovations of the existing 100+ year old structure are underway. Once complete, an expansion project will add new rooms, including some focused on caring for those with memory loss.


Landis Homes is sharing plans for the Gardens and Meadows (page 22) on the eastern edge of campus. Construction on the 35 homes in the Gardens is slated to begin in September.


When the first residents were welcomed to Landis Homes on February 18, 1964, no one could have imagined the countless residents and clients who would be blessed through this first 60 years. May we continue to have the spirit of adventure, desire to learn and commitment to service that seek to cultivate community and enrich lives.
