COMMUNITY

BY LIFE STORIESINSPIRED I

At Welsh Mountain Home

community is built on more than shared meals and activities.

ts small size means residents have deep connections with one another. Tat sense is growing stronger thanks to an inspiring new initiative.

Each month, the Life Stories program invites residents to share chapters of their lives so that others may listen and make connections with their own journey. “Tis is more than storytelling. We have some very interesting residents, and this is a way to honor their wisdom and experience,” says Sarah Albertson, Director of Resident Services.

One of the first residents to share was Linda Lackey. “Doing this helped me remember things I haven’t thought about in a long time, like when it was so cheap to go see a double feature at the movie theater!” She also noted the value in listening to fellow residents share: “It helps me better understand the others who live here.”

Another resident who enjoyed sharing was Rosie Pierce. Life Stories gave her the space to share how much she missed her family and the farm where she lived before. It also reminded her how fortunate she feels to live at Welsh Mountain Home.

Te program is based on Te Legacy Project, a long- standing effort that encourages meaningful reflection
