Painter Chris Tirocke Leaves His Mark

Artist Chris Tirocke, a 53-year-old Steeple View Lofts resident, recently relocated to Lancaster City from Colorado. His apartment on the fourth floor of Steeple View Lofts has become an art studio of sorts. After several years of devoting his time to other ventures such as investing and serving in the Army, now, he drives limousines. But art is his great passion.

Cultivating

Community, Together

I

started drawing at a young age, but then in my early teens, I just stopped,” Chris remembered. “It was only a few years ago that I started creating art again… and that’s when I started painting too.”

Chris specializes in a unique art form - pet portraits! - a niche he discovered that he enjoyed after his beloved German Shepherd, Sheba, passed away. She was his first pet portrait, and he painted it to honor her memory. Now he uses his talents to immortalize the pets of others.

“I work primarily off photographs,” Chris said, sharing that his preferred medium is painting with acrylic paint on canvas. He’s even done a pet portrait for one of his neighbor’s dogs at Steeple View Lofts.

Art is such an important and integral part of Chris’s life, and that’s one reason why he’s enjoying life in Lancaster City. “I like living here in the downtown,” he said. “Te city itself is a very artsy place.”

Chris feels as though Landis Communities core value of compassion is prominently on display at Steeple View Lofts. “Te people here are very kind, both the staff and the residents,” he shared. “I was really impressed by my tour and by hearing that the neighbors in the building get together often and form community.”

Trough his art, Chris is making a beautiful mark at Steeple View Lofts and in his thriving downtown community.
