Each Day, Together
im grew up on a farm in Southern Lancaster County and is the middle child of seven. He spent his career as a draftsperson working at
designing everything from millwork pieces to layouts for electrical outlets in large buildings. He and his wife Sandy now live in Manheim. Tey have been married for 34 years and love taking care of their three indoor cats – as well as some outdoor ones!
Joining the ADS program in 2016 came as Tim’s Multiple Sclerosis care needs grew. Sandy was teaching and left early in the morning and returned late in the afternoon. She says, “Tim needed someone around to help him with daily tasks. Te Landis Adult Day Services program was a perfect opportunity for Tim to get out of the house and be around other people, something on which he thrives!”
Te first thing Tim noticed when he began attending ADS was the way the staff made him feel welcome. “I enjoy getting to spend time with the other people and the variety of activities we do. Te staff are so caring. Tey take care of my needs throughout the day and always do so with a smile. I enjoy spending time with them talking about their life and family.” One of Tim’s favorite activities is when the group plays Uno®, something he has been missing since COVID-19 protocols have been put in place.
Sandy is so glad for the ability Tim has to attend ADS three days a week. “When I was working it made me feel better knowing he was with caring staff who could help him with his needs and keep him safe. I also liked that he got out of the house and was with other people. He loves being around others and needs activities to keep him busy. Now that I am retired, it gives me a break so that I can get other things done and visit with friends that I can't always do when he is home.” She encourages others to look at the ADS option for their loved ones.
