This issue of FLOURISH, containing the Annual Report and stories of community impact, provides the opportunity to look back and reflect. With much gratitude, I think of all the ways team members, boards and supporters rose to the challenges of COVID-19 and worked diligently to keep residents, clients and other team members as safe and healthy as possible.

FROM THE PRESIDENT & CEO O

ur pre-pandemic work on improving processes, systems and information pathways, enabled us to focus on understanding

the virus and navigating changing regulations. We worked diligently to obtain and then build reserves of PPE, we created protocols for visitation, guidelines as we reopened, and increasingly we used technology to stay connected.

Trough all of this, I have been inspired by the creativity of the team and their commitment to serving well. Examples of this are the Wellness Team members from Landis Homes who created new options for those with Parkinson’s Disease (page 6) and Landis at Home team member, Jigme Singe, who uses his experiences across languages and cultures to serve clients (pages 16-17).

Te focus and energy needed to fight COVID-19 did not stop us from advancing other parts of our strategic plan. Work began on Landis Place on King, a middle-income rental apartment community. A fundraising campaign is currently underway to offer at least 10 percent of the 79 apartments at more affordable rents, helping to fill a gap in the senior housing market. We are also partnering with Benchmark Construction to propose senior housing in Manheim (page 14-15).

As always, we value your prayers as we seek to serve. I also invite you to help us in the search for team members who embody our guiding values of Joy, Compassion, Integrity, Stewardship and Community. In addition to needs at Welsh Mountain Home and Landis Homes, both Landis at Home and Landis Adult Day Services could serve more clients if they had more staff. Please consider sharing this with others LandisCareers.org.

With gratitude and God’s blessing to you,

Larry Zook President/CEO Landis Communities
