n previous 2024 issues of FLOURISH, we have shared several milestones across Landis Communities – 1 year for Landis Place on King, 35 years for Landis Adult Day Services, 60 years for
Landis Homes and 100 years for Welsh Mountain Home! It has been a joy to celebrate each of these anniversaries and the lives that have been changed because of the important missions of these Landis Communities affiliates.
To mark the 60th anniversary of Landis Homes, Rooted in Faith: A Devotional Book Celebrating 60 Years at Landis Homes was released in September. Two years ago, a resident brought an idea to the Pastoral Services team for a book that would include devotionals and sermons shared at Landis Homes. It was decided that 60 devotionals – one for each year – would be included in the book. Te writings are arranged to reflect three core ideals of Anabaptist Christians, as stated by author Palmer Becker: Jesus is the center of our faith; Community is the center of our life; Reconciliation is the center of our work. You need not be Anabaptist for these core ideals to ring true. We hope you will request a copy of this meaningful publication (p.24).
Being rooted in faith and taking steps of faith are ideas that permeate the stories you are about to read. Welsh Mountain Home resident, Harold (p.6), and Landis Adult Day Service client, Earl (p.14), have both faced adversity but credit their faith with where they are today.
At Landis Communities, we are inspired by the people who surround us – 616 team members, 1,039 residents, 689 clients and countless volunteers and family members – striving to follow the example of Jesus as we seek to enrich the lives of other. Tank you for joining us in this journey.
