Hopdeals: diving into world of tanker manufacturing!
Well-known pre-owned truck dealer Hopdeals, is making waves in the waste management industry by venturing into the manufacturing of its own vacuum tankers. With over 30 years of experience in the municipal vehicle sector, Hopdeals is leveraging its expertise to produce a range of tankers tailored to the specific needs of waste management, local authority, and utility companies.
A Gap in the Market
Recognising a significant gap in the market for faster lead times, Hopdeals took the initiative to develop its own vacuum tankers. As MD Paul Askew explains, "We identified a three-year waiting list with some of the other manufacturers, and in some cases, we're capable of turning around a new truck within a mere 12 weeks!”
To expedite the process, Hopdeals strategically purchased a number of chassis before the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring a ready supply of vehicles to be equipped with their tankers. By drawing on decades of experience, Hopdeals has carefully crafted specifications

for its tankers, making them durable, easily maintainable, and most importantly easy to use. Instead of adding complicated electrical components and user interfaces, Hopdeals chose to keep it simple to make the tankers last longer and to reduce vehicle downtime.
The first Hopdeals-manufactured tanker is already in operation, serving a client in central London. The company plans to lease the initial two or three tankers as demonstration vehicles, enabling valuable feedback from customers to refine the design and functionality of future units.
Although offering a standardised, quick-turnaround product, customisation is a key feature. Askew emphasises, "Customers can specify their desired vehicle, and we'll outfit it with the necessary equipment to meet their exact requirements."
Kent based First4Drains, a proud family-run drainage business with a fleet of over 50 specialist vehicles, recently purchased multiple tankers from Hopdeals and have many more on order.
