Dear Reader and Writer,
Greetings from the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).
Titles within this catalog are written by English language arts teachers and scholars who have prioritized sharing their professional knowledge with peers. NCTE publishes work by literacy educators, for literacy educators. We believe the best professional learning occurs from professional to professional and dedicate our publishing to this endeavor.
We are excited to share NCTE’s bestselling title of all time—Wondrous Words—with you in an updated version by Katie Wood Ray with Stella Villalba! The original has shaped multiple generations of teachers, and now Wondrous Words: Reimagining Writers and Writing in the Elementary Classroom (p.10) will do so again with updated mentor texts and contemporary classroom experiences.
Students and teachers alike read across digital and print contexts. No longer is reading an analog- or digital-only experience. I encourage you to dive into the insight of the 18 teachers who contributed to Text and Tech: Reading All Ways in K–8 by Kristin Ziemke (p.19). Purchasing this book comes with the added incentive of knowing half of all royalties are donated to the NCTE Convention Scholarship Fund!
We invite you to consider writing with NCTE, whether you’re a K–12 classroom teacher, a faculty member in a community college or four-year institution, or in a graduate program. We also regularly need reviewers to share thoughtful, critical reviews of manuscripts and would be delighted to welcome you into that process. Please let us hear of your interest at
booksteam@ncte.org.
Additionally, are you looking for a subject that you don’t see in this catalog? I’d love to have a conversation with you! My email is:
executivedirector@ncte.org.
Sincerely, Emily Kirkpatrick, NCTE Executive Director
