PRIMARY SOURCES FREE RESOURCE

Working with Primary Sources in the English Language Arts Classroom Troy Hicks, editor

This collection of teaching ideas and assignments is the result of a collaboration between NCTE and the Library

of Congress to expand the use of primary sources in high school English language arts classrooms. Over the course of two years, a cohort of ELA teachers met and discussed how to incorporate primary sources from the Library into their literature, poetry, and writing curricula.

The resulting chapters draw on nonfiction texts from the Library’s holdings, including images, film, and audio recordings.
